This assignment focuses on developing effective project planning strategies, identifying major deliverables, and mapping them into a structured Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). By identifying key stakeholders and deliverables, students gain practical skills in project management, a crucial area of study for students pursuing careers in business, IT, and engineering.
The assignment plays a vital role in preparing students for real-world project management tasks by integrating key principles such as stakeholder communication, goal setting, and breaking down projects into measurable deliverables. This assignment is suited for students in their second or third year of studies in project management or related fields.
Choose a project and fill out key fields on the following tabs: PC (Project Charter), SHR (Stakeholder Register), and SS (Scope Statement). Afterward, organize the 5 major deliverables identified in the SS tab into Level 2 (L2) deliverables on the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) tab. Then, define 3 Level 3 (L3) deliverables under each L2 deliverable.
Goals: Write 2-3 sentences summarizing the goals of the project. Include 1 sentence per target benefit expected from the project.
Objectives: Identify 5 key deliverables. These deliverables will also be used in the SS and WBS tabs. Remember, do not use verbs like "develop," "build," or "create." Focus on nouns or outcomes, not tasks.
Use bullet points, numbering, and bold text where necessary to enhance readability and clarity.
Ensure that the deliverables are clearly defined, measurable, and logically structured.
